Cecily Brown Obituary

Cecily Ann Brown passed away on December 16, 2021 with her husband of 46 years by her side.

Ann was born on July 5, 1954 to Bob and Joy (Naramore) Cox of Roswell, New Mexico. She had an adventure-filled childhood, as the family moved often for her father's work, including California and Iowa - where she learned to ride horses. She would run them full out while riding bareback. Ann attended Northeast Missouri State University, in Kirksville, Missouri, where she graduated with a degree in Psychology and met her husband. Ann and Doug were married in 1975 and moved to Taos, New Mexico before establishing their family home in Dolores, Colorado in 1980.

For many years, Ann was a business office administrator at Southwest Memorial Hospital, before retiring as the manager of Madison House Assisted Living, where her caring and nurturing nature left a lasting legacy.

Ann was an avid reader who also enjoyed gardening, painting, cooking, and glamping in her camper. Always quick to share a laugh or smile, with an ear to lend or shoulder to cry on, she doted on any animal and cherished time with her family and friends. All who knew Ann were touched by her unwavering love, support, and generous spirit.

She is survived by her loving husband, Douglas Brown; daughter Samantha Barbour, married to Willie Barbour, and their children Grayson and Jolie; son Mitchell Brown, married to Lauren Brown; brother Tim Cox, married to Laura Cox; two beloved dogs, Sugar and Boo; one indoor cat, Emmitt, as well as many outdoor feral cats; not to forget numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

In lieu of services, please consider a donation to any cause that supports people or animals in need, as Ann often did.

Ann showed so much compassion to us as we faced challenges with both our fathers. A strong shoulder, sage advice or just a understanding nod, made a difficult journey much easier. She was so kind to both of them and we will remember her with gratitude. Sending her family our deepest condolences.

Such a sad time. My brother loved his Annie so much. Enjoyed seeing her when she traveled to New York with him. She always made you laugh with her humor. She was one of a kind and we will cherish those memories. We thank God for Ann's short time with us on earth. She will always be in our hearts.

Ann always saw the best in everything. She could make you laugh with just a look. She was a good natured. Raised a good family and was a great wife as my brother always spoke of. We were blessed to have had Ann in our lives and with the many memories she will always be in our hearts.

Words cannot explain the sorrow felt at this time for the loss of our brothers wife Annie. She was the rock of their family. Such a loving and caring soul. Loved by all that knew her. When in her home, she would always make you feel welcome. We stayed at their home for five weeks and loved every minute of our time together. Many laughs with such memories! She will be missed by many. Gone too soon, but will never be forgotten.
