Cleo Hicks Obituary

Cleo Jackson Hicks was born July 8, 1914,, in Berwyn, Okla. the son of John Oliver and Gertrude Mae (Felkins) Hicks. He passed away at Vista Mesa Retirement Center in Cortez on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at age 99.

Cleo owned and operated numerous service stations and Hicks Cortez Glass. He also rented living space to many people in the area. Cleo was a member of the Church of Christ for many years. He loved to play cards, pool and dominos. Being an avid sports fan, Cleo loved the Rockies and Broncos. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving Cleo are his children, Lavon Fay Millard and husband, Dudley of Cortez, and Melvin Hicks and wife, Maribeth of Cortez; three grandchildren, John Millard and partner, Joe of Pasadena, Calif., Janie Millard of Seattle, Wash., and Ed Millard of Cortez; and sister, Margie of Bloomfield, N.M. Cleo was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Hicks; wife, Maude Hicks; and three brothers and one sister.

Private interment has taken place.
