Clifford Ayers Obituary

Clifford Lee Ayers journeyed home to be with his parents , Milliard and Ruth Ayers and his brothers, Kenneth Boyd and Keith Ayers on Feb 7, 2025. We are at peace with him being in the arms of our Lord and his family .

Cliff was born June 4, 1947 in Durango, Colorado . He spent his childhood in the Cortez area with many family members and close cousins of which he regarded throughout his life with special and fantastic memories. The Ayers family moved to Shoshoni , WY in Cliff's youth . He was an avid fisherman and wrestler in his youth . He then went to college in Nebraska and wrestled , met his wife Leslie Lynne and they had a son , Todd. He then graduated . He returned to Shoshoni to teach and coach and he and Leslie had two more children, Lori and Chris.

Cliff then started his own construction company in Wyoming and soon moved his family to Colorado . Cliff was a hard worker and steady provider for his family . He was talented with woodworking and concrete . This soon moved him towards New Mexico where he became a project manager and engineer focusing on large projects with concrete. He established quite the portfolio . He was always a very intelligent and talented person that focused on the job at hand while providing, up to his passing, for his family members .

Cliff had a dry sense of humor and shared that often , especially with his grandchildren. He was beloved by many and a "Great Papa" to Lori's grandchildren. He loved gardening and woodworking and was an avid reader .

During his last days , he recalled many memories. His last finishing trip when he took his dad and carried him to the boat to fish before Millard's passing. Hunting in the quakies with his brother and then continuing that tradition with his sons. He had a ton of stories of Phyllis , Nita Joyce and Julia and his childhood friend Jim. Dad was an accomplished person with a humble beginning that he never forgot and he cherished the good and bad memories to pass along .

Clifford is survived by his wife, Leslie . Liz Bourgeois (step daughter and children Kyle, Kayleigh and Lexie ) Todd (Liz and daughter Kaeili), Lori (Jason and Ethan, Will, Samantha) Chris( daughters Shana , Josie and son Oliver) . He was delighted that his first great-grandson was to be born on his birthday and to our regret was not here to meet Wylie , but he indeed was born on Cliff's birthday . He had two great granddaughters , Adi and JJ , who visited him often and dubbed him Great Papa. His nephews Brain and Trent ( Keith's sons) .

A private family memorial for spreading Cliff's ashes will be held at a later date per his request.
