Darel Jordan Obituary

Darel Lewis Jordan, of Porterville, California, went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2021, at Sierra View Medical Center, in Porterville; his wife, Patti, was by his side. He died from COVID-19 complications at the age of 81. Darel was born January 29, 1940, to Harold and Edith (Lucille) Sword Jordan at the home of his maternal grandparents, in Arriola, Colorado. Three days later, his parents took him home in a horse-drawn sleigh.

Darel grew up in and around Cortez, Colorado, where he met and married Betty Carol Milson. They raised three children and spoiled seven grandchildren, together, until Betty's death in 1991. Darel was a believer in Jesus Christ and was of the Baptist faith, since the day an oilfield coworker led him to the Lord. In Darel's early adult life, he worked in construction, ranching, and oil fields until he went to work for the USDA Forest Service in the early 1970s, where he worked until he retired.

Darel is preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; two brothers, Harold (Dale) Jordan and Wayne Jordan; and his grandson, Elijah Titus Jordan. He is survived by his wife, Patti Ferguson Jordan; his and Betty Carol's three children Betty Ruth Castle (Brett), Karen Louise Hughes (Gene), and Harold Franklin Jordan; his two step-daughters, Heatherlyn Silcox and Christie Jensen (Shane); 17 grandchildren/step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Elsie (Ruth) Jordan Chadwick, two brothers Curtis Jordan and Gary Jordan, and numerous relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held in Cortez at a later date.
