Donnis DuCray Obituary

Donnis Dee DuCray, beloved wife of Gerald (Jerry) DuCray of Grand Junction, passed away August 25th, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Donnis was born in Durango, CO, the second daughter of Lester and Lillie Hartle of Pleasant View, CO on October 15, 1943. She was raised on the family farm at Pleasant View and attended school there. She endured her high school years riding the school bus from pleasant View into Cortez and MCHS, graduating in 1961. Donnis then became a hair stylist in Grand Junction where she met and married Jerry. She worked as a hair dresser for a few years, then worked as a Grand Junction mail carrier for many years until bad health forced her early retirement.

Donnis was loved by all who knew her. She had an infectious laugh, keen wit and good humor. She was a devoted Christian and enjoyed many Bible studies over the years. She so enjoyed the love of her husband, Jerry and their four children and eight grandchildren. She and Jerry had recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Donnis will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her sister, Joan Harclerode (Don) of Cortez and her brother, Lloyd Hartle (Fran) of Pleasant view, as well as husband, Jerry, and their children and grandchildren.

A service and celebration of Donnis's life was held September 1, 2018 at the Church of the Nazarene in Grand Junction. Many recalled the great and precious times they had with Donnis and her family.
