Elida Fernandez Obituary

Elida Esther Fernandez, 66, of Cortez, CO, unexpectedly died on 3/5/2024 in Fresno, CA, born 12/31/1958.

Elida was born in Las Letras, Michoacán to Ana Maria Renteria and Felipe Leon. She was the second oldest of 5 full siblings. After her father's passing, the family moved to Zamora, Mexico. Here is where she grew up and helped shaped her into an incredible woman we grew to love and adore. Elida met her husband, J Carmen Fernandez and moved to Puruándiro, Michoacán . Elida had 6 wonderful children, Teresa, Luz, Juan, Pedro, David and Irene; and was a loving Grandmother of 7 grand children and 4 great grandchildren.

To give her family a better opportunity, Elida and J Carmen immigrated to Colorado in the 90s. Here in Colorado, she worked in many different areas, but took pride in her work. It did not matter if she worked in the fields or took care of elderly clients, she took passion in anything she did. Elida recently retired, had plans to split her retired time to be in Puruándiro with her eldest daughter Teresa and her grandchildren, in Fresno with her sons Pedro and David and her grandson Vincent, lastly, in Colorado with her second eldest daughter Luz and youngest Irene.

Elida loved flowers in her life. She enjoyed planting them outside and inside the house, She always told us not to waste flowers on her after she passes, but enjoy them now. Elida was a loving mother and her children were her biggest pride and joy. Elida had a big heart and always put others before herself. She was an amazing cook and her kitchen skills were top notch. She could whip out tortillas from scratch faster than setting the table. Elida was a self taught woman and made sure her children did not forget. She loved to crochet, and could pretty much crochet anything. She also loved to go to dances and music, especially Juan Gabriel.

A small intimate viewing was done with immediate family in Fresno, CA. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will bloom eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind.
