F. Daves Obituary

Lifelong Dove Creek resident, Marlin Daves, reunited with his Savior & many family & friends from the past, in a wonderful Heavenly reunion on May 15, 2022! He had been struggling with increasingly insurmountable health issues & passed at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray Utah. As his remaining family & friends, we will miss him every minute of every day.

Marlin was born on Nov. 2nd, 1942 in Cortez, Co, to Floyd & Glennis Daves. He soon learned what would become the heartbeat of his life, farming. The family that was to come, was the only thing he loved more & after serving in the Army as a PFC Expert Marksman, he married Kay Avalyn Neeley, from Cortez, CO on August 29, 1964.

He became an immediate father to two curly headed Goodall girls, Donna & Shelly. Marlin & Kay lived in Dove Creek, where he typically had two or more jobs, including 16 years as an underground Uranium Miner/Foreman, as well as working in various construction & trucking jobs. His hard work further expressed his love for his family, which had quickly grown to include Dustin & Duane. Marlin learned what this life is for & gave his heart to his Lord & was baptized into the Fellowship Baptist Church of Cahone, CO. Attending church was the only thing more important on a Sunday than farming.

Marlin was a vital part of the community he grew up in & loved. He would support & participate in many community & school fundraisers. He was always the auctioneer who could get you to pay more than you realized for a pie because it was for a "Good Cause". Marlin never met a stranger & could visit with anyone. Anywhere he went, they heard about Dove Creek because he just assumed EVERYONE needed to hear about it. He was one of the best elk & deer hunters but in off season, equally enjoyed video taping these amazing animals. Marlin was just one of those Good Guys.

He is proceeded in death by his parents & sisters Sue Dungan, Beverly (Bert) Wood, brothers James (Imogene) Daves, Wayne (Susie Wofford) Daves, Eddie (Peggy) Daves, Stanley (Charlotte) Daves & Bobby (Margret) Daves. Marlin is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Kay, daughters Donna Goodall Hernandez of Greeley, CO, Shelly Goodall Brumley of Como, CO, & sons Dustin (Katherine) Daves of Ucola, Ut & Duane (Claire) Daves of Cahone, Co. He was so proud of those he was a grandfather & great grandfather to as well as his surviving brother Woodie (Arlene) Daves & sisters Earlene (Jack) White, N. Kay Daves & Linda (Paul) Rehmert.

A Life Celebration service for all to attend will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9th at the Dove Creek Pioneer Center.
