Freya Carlson Obituary

Freya Lorraine Carlson went to be with her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, after a long illness. She was born on July 15, 1927, in Orange Park, Fla., and passed away in Albuquerque, N.M., at the age of 86.

Freya married the love of her life, Norman C. Carlson, in Jacksonville, Fla., where he had been stationed during WWII. They shared 37 years of a happy marriage before Norman's untimely death in 1982. Freya was a devoted Christian, wife, and mother throughout her life. She enjoyed hunting for antiques and jewelry, listening to music and watching old movies. For the majority of her adult life she lived in Corpus Christi and San Antonio, Texas, residing the last 11 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Freya was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Carlson, and her brother Arthur Hall. She is survived by her son, Christopher Carlson Sr. and wife, Teresa, of Cortez, Colorado; two grandsons, Christopher Carlson Jr. and wife, Crystal, of Arlington, Texas, and Kyle Carlson and wife, Lindsey, of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Eva May Hall of California and Iva Joy Moses of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Yvonne Luckey of Texas and Evelyn Hall of Florida, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Freya was always especially proud of her six great-grandchildren, Christina, Elijah, Madeline, Collin, Jude and Spencer.

Freya has been cremated, and there are no plans for a service at this time. A graveside service is anticipated in the summer of 2014 when her remains will be interred beside her beloved husband at Capitol Memorial Park in Pflugerville, Texas. Arrangements were made by Direct Funeral Services.
