Gene Bott Obituary

Clarence Eugene Bott, 91, of Mancos, Colorado passed away on July 10, 2023, in Las Vegas NV. Born on September 2, 1931, in Kemmerer, Wyoming, this charismatic individual, also known as Gene bid adieu with a final flourish.

Gene was a man with an undeniable zest for life. Funny, witty, and bursting with energy, he brightened every room he entered. His quick wit could make even the grumpiest souls crack a smile. As much as we would all love to remember him this way all of the time, many times he was that grumpy soul that required the cute little smile of one of his little grandkids, or a brutal defeat of the "Lakers" to cheer him up.

Survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Bishop, his former wife LaVerne Cardon Tueller, and a brood of children: Suzanne, (John) Huffman, Paulette, (Joe) LeMieux , Angela "Bonnie", (Steve) Alger, Glenn, (Marion) Bott, Greg Bott, and Angelina, (Ben) Nielsen as well as 29 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 6 great, great grandchildren. Gene journeyed to the great beyond, anxious to reunite with his father Pio Bott, mother Amelia Bergamo Bott, brother Gerald Bott, and his previous wife Sharon Lee Dillon Bott, who was mother to Angelina and Greg.

Gene was very proud of his heritage. Both of his parents, Pio Bott, and Amelia Bergamo Bott were from the Tyrolean valley of Val di Non, now Italy. He learned from his parent's example, hard work, dedication, thrift and generosity, life-long lessons that helped them navigate and survive the Great Depression.

Gene's career was quite the labor of love. He worked in the oilfield at an early age after high school on a seismic crew, then learned carpentry working with relatives in Farmington, New Mexico. He laid brick, block, and stone as a mason from 1958 to 1970. He then moved to Las Vegas where he built trust as a masonry contractor from 1970 to 1995, and expertly crafted dreams as a general contractor and home builder in Mancos, Colorado (in the summer months) from 1995 until his recent curtain call in 2023. He truly left his mark for all to marvel.

With a glint in his eye and a spiritual inclination, Gene found inspiration in the pews of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was here that he sought solace and a higher power to guide him on life's rugged journey.

When not toiling away at his contracting endeavors, Gene honed his skills as a masterful woodworker and green thumb extraordinaire. Whittling away at intricate pieces and tending his flourishing garden were his secret passions, bespoke delights of his playful soul.

Instead of the usual funeral floral fare, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Gene's memory to Nathan Adelson Hospice. Embracing their mission of providing compassionate end-of-life care, it's a fitting tribute to a man who spread kindness throughout his days.

As Gene Bott strolls off into eternity, he leaves a void in the hearts of his kin, cherished friends, and all those lucky enough to cross his unforgettable path. May his pun-loving spirit and mischievous smile continue to fill our memories with laughter and warmth. Rest in play, Gene, rest in play.
