George Eichner Obituary

George Elmer Eichner, 67, of Lebanon, Ore., passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, while snowmobiling. He was born Feb. 22, 1947, in McMinnville, Ore., to Goldwin and Lucille (Cooper) Eichner. He was one of six children.

At the time of his calling he was surrounded by his snowmobile family of the Mount Jefferson Snowmobile Club and longtime companion Susan Lowen.

George served his country as a member of the Air Force in the Vietnam War.

He married Linda Lehman on May 17, 1974 in Phoenix. They moved to Cortez in 1977, a raised their five children: Rick, Alan, Rebecca, Brenda and George Jr. The family moved to Oregon in 1989. George was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, and a close friend to many.

He started his career as a lineman in 1971 at Salt River Project in Phoenix. He then worked for Empire Electric in Cortez until moving to Oregon. He then worked for Consumer Power until retiring in 2009.

George will be missed by all who knew him. He'll live in our hearts forever.

He is survived by his children: Rick and his wife Cristina Eichner of Arizona; Alan Hartle Jr. of Utah; Rebecca and her husband Jim Upton of Missouri; Brenda and her husband Chris Belt of Colorado; George Jr. and his wife, Eileen Eichner of Colorado; brothers Harvey, Goldwin, Bruce, Randy; sister Pauline; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild; Louis Sidebottom (father of two of the grandchildren) of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Marie Eichner, and parents Goldwin and Lucille.

Viewing will be 5-8 p.m. March 27, 2014, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m., March 28, 2014, at Assembly of God Church in Lebanon. Potluck and reception will follow services.
