Gerald Evans Obituary

Gerald Barton "G.B." Evans was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Dewey, Okla. the son of Estel J. and Zora (Offett) Evans. He passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013, at Vista Grande Inn, at the age of 94.

G.B. worked for Honolulu and Shell Oil Companies for many years. He founded and operated Hybon Engineering. A rock hound at heart, G.B. was a lifelong member of the Midland Gem and Mineral Society. He also belonged to Royal Neighbors. G.B. and Ruby Evans were longtime friends with Gerri Sanchez and her husband. After both lost their spouses, G.B. and Gerri were married and shared a loving, caring relationship.

Surviving G.B. are his wife, Gerri Sanchez Evans of Cortez; his children, Barton Dale Evans and wife, Maya of Midland, Tex., Larry Sanchez and wife, Sharon of Cortez, Sherri Wright of Cortez, and Merri Sanchez of Broomfield, Colo.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Jean Evans of Plano, Tex. G.B. was preceded in death by his parents; by his first wife, Ruby Evans; by his son, Duane Evans; and by two brothers and two sisters.
