As a kid (3rd, 4th and 5th grade) I lived in Kenai, AK from 68' thru 71'. A friend to all of us kids in the neighborhood was Doug Neely. He would take us fishing and hunting. Doug was in high school and a baseball player at Kenai Central HS. He was our hero. His girl friend was Joetta. As a kid, she was always so nice to us kids and was always around Doug. That's how we got to know her. The lasting memory I have of Joetta, was at one of Doug's baseball games. Doug took me to the game with him and Joetta, who sat in Doug's Chevrolet Impala with me as we watched Doug play baseball. I thought about Doug today and found his memorial online. I always wondered the path that Joetta took after Doug passed. I just found that out today. Bless her soul. She had a younger sister named Toni that I went to elementary school with. A floor of memories from a magical time long, long ago.

To the Family of Joetta,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I've known Joetta since the late 60's when we were growing up in Kenai Alaska.
I tried to make it to the memorial service, but the road was closed in Shiprock that morning for the Navajo Nation parade, and I wasn't able to get to Cortez in time.
Please express my condolences to Bernie, Joetta's children, and to the Neely family.
