John Butler Obituary

John J. Butler passed away on February 3, 2023, at the age of 93. He was born on Granath Mesa, near Dolores, Colorado, to W. L. and Mary Butler. He was the youngest son, and the 10th in age of the Butler children. John graduated from Dolores High School, then joined the army, and served in Japan. When he returned from the military , he married Doris Forest. John worked for Mountain Bell telephone company. He and Doris moved to the Grand Junction area of Colorado, owning a farm, raising peaches, cherries, and cattle.

John and Doris became proud members of the Colorado West Land Trust, protecting wildlife and family farms.

John is survived by his four children, Geri Anderson of Everton, Arkansas; Cindy (Steve) Richardson of White Water, Colorado; Randy(Gail) Butler of Caldwell, Texas; and Kevin(Mary) Butler of Clifton, Colorado. John is survived by many grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris, and his eleven siblings.

The memorial service will be held on March 10, 2023, at the Palisade United Methodist Church. The service will be at 12 pm. A graveside service will be at 3:00 pm at the Veterans Cemetery,2839 Riverside Parkway. the family requests, in lieu of flowers ,donations be made to Land Trust (mentioned above) or to Palisade United Methodist Church. West Hope Hospice is also mentioned.
