Judy NeSmith Obituary

Judy Diane (Taylor) NeSmith, made a peaceful journey to Heaven on June 29, 2023, at the age of 77. Judy was born June 4, 1946, in Maud, Oklahoma, then moved to Cortez, Colorado, when her family relocated in 1954.

Judy was a proud graduate of the Montezuma Cortez High School class of 1964. Some of Judy's fondest memories growing up in Cortez were centered on friendships and the joy she found serving the community as a Girl Scout leader and working for the Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce. She also loved working in Towaoc and at the Ramada Inn, where she extended hospitality to people visiting or passing through Cortez.

Still, the cornerstone of Judy's life was her love of family. Her love and devotion knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She especially loved her role as Mema to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Always the cheerleader, Mema attended every event possible over the last 39 years of all her grandchildren's lives, cheering them on with boundless enthusiasm.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne NeSmith, and parents, Lloyd and June Taylor. She is survived by her brother John Taylor; sister-in-law Coni Ray; her two daughters, Diana Betts, married to Harold and Heather Ligrani, married to Andy; grandchildren, Ken Ligrani, married to Karina, Tommi Whittenburg, Taylor Betts, Tori Ligrani, Julia Betts, and Aaron Betts; great-grandchildren, Asher and Nora Ligrani, Kenadee Kling, Ethan Whittenburg, and Liam Cox; and life-long friends, Kathy Barns, June Jones, and Lynn Carver -all of whom she loved and touched deeply.

As we say goodbye to our dear Mema, we hold onto the cherished memories she gifted us. May she rest in heavenly peace, knowing the profound impact she made.
