Leo Lewis Obituary

Leo Lewis, 67, passed away, Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at home in Cortez, Colo. A graveside service was scheduled for Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at 3 p.m. at The Cortez Cemetery, with retired pastor David Dahl officiating.

Leo was born Jan. 21, 1947, in Shiprock, N.M., the son of Lee and Sarah Lewis. He grew up in Shiprock and attended schooling there. He honorably served in the Air Force during Vietnam War. Mr. Lewis was married to Kimberly (Latham) on Nov. 29, 1978, in Aztec, N.M. They made their home together in Cortez and raised their family.

Leo loved professional sports, especially the Oakland Raiders – he was a die-hard fan. Leo enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. Most of all, Leo loved his family – they were the most important thing in his life.

He is survived by his children: Jennifer Lewis of Denver, Colo., and Heather Lewis (Jeramie Hawkins), Justin Lewis, and Shawna Lewis (Curtis Ragan) all of Cortez, Colo.; numerous brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins; and Kimberly's parents, Ed and Charlotte Latham of Cortez.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kimberly in October 1994, his parents, and a sister, Hazel Capitan.
