Linda Evanoski Obituary

Linda Evanoski passed away on July 20, 2021 in Loveland, CO after a long illness.

Linda was born on November 18, 1948, in Cortez, CO to Irwin and Betty (Steerman) Matlock. Linda's family roots go deep in Montezuma County. The Steerman family were ranchers in the valley for decades and Irwin grew up in Mancos and lived all his adult life in Cortez. Linda grew up in Cortez and graduated from Montezuma Cortez High School in 1966. Linda was highly active while in school as a cheerleader for the sports teams and majorette in the band.

After graduation she attended Fort Lewis College where she met Joseph Evanoski. Linda decided not to return to Fort Lewis instead attending a cosmetology school in Denver. Joe and Linda continued to see each other and were married in the fall of 1968. They lived in Durango for a few years as Joe finished at Fort Lewis before moving to the Denver area.

In 1970, their first child was born, a son they named Patrick. They moved from Denver to Arvada where their daughter Jennifer Jane was born in 1976. While in Arvada, Linda worked for John Elway's car dealerships in the title department. In 1988, Linda and Joe moved to Loveland, Colorado where Linda worked for the Larimer County Clerk in the title department, and eventually was promoted to supervisor for that department. She retired in 2015.

Linda was always an avid sports fan and passionately loved the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, and Denver Spurs. She was especially engaged with her son, Patrick's athletic career, even going as far as to get ejected from a couple of games for yelling at the referees. Linda and Joe enjoyed restoring various 1960's sport cars. They also enjoyed vacations with their kids and grandkids. Watching her grandchildren play football and volleyball was her delight in recent years, and they will miss having her cheering them on.

Linda was a cheery, caring person who never met a stranger. She had a sharp sense of humor. More than anything else, Linda should be remembered for her love of family, her family growing up in Cortez, her love for her husband Joe, and her love for her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Linda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joe Evanoski; her two children Patrick Evanoski (Jennifer) and Jennifer Jane Kingston (Kevin); two brothers William Matlock (Surry, Maine) and Gary Matlock

(Paonia, CO); her grandchildren Drake, Carrie, Braden and Brody; and many nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her parents and older sister Wendy (Matlock) Spurr.

May she rest in peace, she will be missed by all who knew her.

A tribute to Linda will be held next year in Loveland, CO.
