Lloyd Gallion Obituary

Lloyd Gale Gallion, 89, of Cortez, passed away peacefully at home on January 6th, 2025. He was born August 6th, 1935 in Kiefer, Oklahoma to Cloren and Beulah (Jones) Gallion.

Lloyd joined the Air Force in 1952 as a Munitions Specialist. After serving he returned to Harrah, Oklahoma to help support his mother and complete his high school education at Harrah Senior High School. After moving to Ulysses, Kansas, Lloyd met his wife, Bonnie Loraine (Harmon) Gallion and they were married on April 8th, 1956 and had three children, Barbara, Renee, and Gary.

Lloyd attended Garden City Junior College, Garden City, Kansas for a year and a half. He moved his family to Cortez, Colorado in 1963, began work in an appliance /electronics repair shop and later took ownership. After closing the shop, he went to work for Montgomery Wards repair department in Cortez then worked for 16 years in all phases of home construction. He received an associate's degree in Business Admin. from PCC Southwest. Lastly, he designed and created wooden arts and crafts puzzles and attended arts and crafts festivals across the country. He enjoyed being a hobbyist musician, singer, fiddle luthier, and wine maker.

He is pre-deceased by daughters Barbara, Renee, and his sisters Bea Weatherly, Marjorie Lesseig, and Earl Gallion. He is survived by his wife, sisters Joanne Tucker/Sarah Keaton/Janie Richardson, son Gary, daughter-in-law Arlene, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Viewing/visitation 10-11:30 am at Ertel Funeral home, funeral services 1pm at Arriola Bible Church, and 3pm burial at Cortez Cemetery January 18th, 2025.
