Margie Hill Obituary

Margie Ann Hill died peacefully in her home on Jan. 13, 2013, in Dolores. Her remaining family members include her husband, Dana Hill, and her three children, Laurie Benjamin of Tucson, Michael Hill of Cortez, and Chad Hill of Minneapolis.

Margie was born on Oct. 5, 1935, in Fargo, N.D. where she met her husband. Margie and Dana both attended and graduated from North Dakota State University. The Hill family moved to Cortez in 1980 and Marge was a teacher at the Montezuma-Cortez High School for ten years before retiring.

Margie and Dana enjoyed the Dolores area, choosing to retire along the McPhee Reservoir after Dana retired as Project Manager for the construction of the Dolores Irrigation Project. She became an elk hunter in addition to participating in several activities such as the annual Dolores Christmas craft fair, the PEO, and the local chapter of the Red Hat Ladies to become a member of the community that became her final home.

A memorial service will be held at the Johnson Memorial Methodist Church in Dolores at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013. The reception will be held at the Cortez Elks immediately following the service.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Margie Hill to the National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
