Marvin Elliott Obituary

Marvin Gene Elliott passed away in Mesa, Arizona on April 14, 2024, at the age of 87, surrounded by his family. Marvin was born on January 7, 1937 in Friona, Texas. His family moved to Lewis, Colorado when he was 5. There his family ran the Round-up store. Around 1949, the family moved to a location on Main Street in Cortez where his father had purchased the Navajo Butane business. Marvin worked in the family business from the age of 14 and eventually purchased it. After graduating high school, Marvin married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Fletcher, and in 1960, were blessed with a son Melvin Elliot. Shortly thereafter, Marvin tragically lost Charlotte when she was called to heaven. In June of 1963 Marvin married Dena Amrine, and they were blessed with a son Kelvin ( Elliot) in 1965 and a daughter Michaelina (Elliot) in 1970. Marvin's life was marked by a steadfast and unwavering dedication to God, serving as the Song leader, and Deacon at Cortez First Assembly of God church for a number of years before retiring to Arizona in 2007. He had a love of flying, owning a small plane throughout his lifetime. He flew for "sky divers", and made countless flights for those in need of transportation to: see loved ones, to medical facilities, and other compassionate reasons. However his great joy was to take family and friends to Lake Powell on a regular basis where he was an accomplished water-skier. Marvin also shared many adventures camping and riding motorcycles with his growing family and dear friends. His years in retirement were spent surrounded by his children and grandchildren who gave him love, joy and endless hours of laughter. Marvin is preceded in death by his father and mother, Fat and Sue Elliot, sister, Lois Crites and many friends. He is survived by: children Mel (Cindy), Kelvin (Karen), Michaelina, grandchildren: Cory (Krista), Candy Armstrong (Brandon), Dylan (Natalie), Rachel Woolridge (Nick), Mikeeta Villanueva, Kyra Villanueva, Kiernan, Kameyo Villanueva, Kamdehn, great grandchildren: Kyler, Stetson Goodall, Weston Armstrong, Samantha and Ryan.

A celebration of life will be held 6/15/2024 at 12:00/noon at the Lewis Station on CR S.
