Mary Hannon Obituary

Mary Freitag Hannon, 79, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Hamden Health Center with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to Richard T. Hannon retired Hamden P.D. Mary was born in New Haven on August 24, 1946, and was the daughter of the late John and Cecilia Teneyck Freitag. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Whitney Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center, Hamden for 30 years until her retirement. Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed painting and was past president of the Decorative Painters in Massachusetts. Mother of Richard Hannon (Terry) and Carl Hannon. Grandmother of Richard Hannon III, Anthony Hannon (Carlos), Tyler Hannon (Brianna), Carli and Dallas Hannon. Sister of Virginia Johnson, Cecelia Giannelli (Joseph) and the late John E. Freitag. Also survived by four great-grandchildren.

The visiting hours will be on Tuesday, January 20th from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
