Mary Hinton Obituary
Mary Eileen Scott, 84, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025 just weeks after celebrating her birthday surrounded by her loving family at her children's home in Mesa Az.
Born to Howard and Blanche Baxtrom, Mary was born and raised in Cortez Colorado, a place she proudly called home for most of her life. She was known for her warm heart and great cooking. She had a love of simple joys and a deep devotion to her family.
She is survived by her two children Toni McClanahan (husband Greg) and Eric Scott (wife Leilani), eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren, her brothers Gene Baxstrom and Robert Baxstrom (wife Sharon). She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Harold Baxstrom, Kenny Baxstrom and sister Helen Holliday. Her two children Kerry Scott and Preston Scott, her first husband Tex Scott of 47 years and her second husband Steve Hinton.
Mary lived a life full of quiet strength, grace and compassion. She found joy in cooking, canning, planting flowers, embroidery quilts and most of all in loving and supporting her children and grandchildren. A true lover of country music and dancing, she brought warmth and joy into every room she entered.
Her memory will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 10, 2025 at Ertel Funeral Home in Cortez. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a charity Mary loved to support.
