MaryAnn Ott Obituary

Mary Ann Ott, 94, died peacefully surrounded by family December 9, 2024. Born October 19, 1930, near Longmeadow, MA. She attended Mount Holyoke College, graduated from American International College with a BS in Biology, and worked as a medical secretary. In 1956, she moved to Delta, CO, with her first husband, Bill Rawlings, and three children. Tragically, Bill was killed in a horse accident three years later. Mary Ann was pregnant with her fifth child.

She married Jack Herman Ott on Christmas Eve, 1959, and they built a life on Mancos Hill, raising seven children.

Mary Ann devoted herself to us, our community, and our land. She was active with the Mancos Methodist Church, P.E.O., Scouts, 4-H, and local schools. She supported civic organizations in Colorado and Hawaii, where she wintered for 36 years. Mary Ann was inducted into the Boone & Crockett Club for taking one of Colorado's largest bucks in 1968. She also led the Mancos Centennial Quilt Project. After Jack's passing in 2014, she continued service work In 2021, she moved to Covenant Living, Westminster, CO.

A passionate writer and naturalist, Mary Ann is survived by her children's seven vibrant families, fifteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. We held a candlelit bedside service on December 9. Join us at 2:00 on December 20, 2024, at Covenant Living in Westminster, CO, and/or our Mancos service in May 2025 TBD.
