Monte Imel Obituary

How are you supposed to write about someone who isn't supposed to die?! Truth is, a hero is a hero because of how they lived, the actions they took, and the love they gave to their beloved and humankind. Heroes live a life full of selflessness. They sacrifice everything for everyone else. They give without ever wanting. Always do what is right, even when they are persecuted. A legend does this and more! How can someone be more than a hero you ask? Just look at our father, husband, grandfather. Monte Cris Imel, will live forever in the hearts of those he left behind. He is survived by his beautiful and cherished wife, Liz; his spitting image sons, Adam and Jared; and gorgeous daughter Sara; his five grandsons, Jonathan, Victor, Elijah, Marcus and Arowbin; his two granddaughters Tegan and Alice; his wonderful son-in-law, Jacob; and his two extremely beautiful daughters-in-law, Maria and Sam; his mother, Carol; his brothers, Dan and Don; and sisters, Bonnie and Cindy. Words cannot describe this legend, but an example is he still holds the bench press record at Montezuma Cortez High School. He worked for nearly every contractor in the Farmington area hanging acoustical ceilings. Many thoughts and memories that countless people have of him. Miracles happen and our Dad was one of them. If you knew this man, then you were truly blessed. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 26, at 1:00 p.m., at Stillwater Cowboy Church, 1956 Hwy 6 & 60, Fruita, Colorado.

I'll never forget the fishing catching contest between us that you challenged me to on one of the many trips to camp near Pagosa. 50$ to whomever catches the first fish! When showing me to the ponds we'd be fishing in, lightning struck and the thunder sounded as if it was right on top of us. We both looked at each other with grins wide across our faces with such thrill and excitment and continued unbothered by the eminent risk of danger...you and Liz always treated my brother and I as tho we were your own family. I will love you forever for that. So many memories. Thank you. May peace be a familiar presence with your family in your absence and may the laughter you brought to all of us here, be heard by all wherever you and your memory may go.

Liz, Adam, Jared, and Sara---
Much sympathy to you all. You are so right, saying good-bye to someone who isn't supposed to die so young, is very difficult. He will always be watching you, standing by you, and loving you. Just know that we are here for you anytime. May his memory fill your days to come.
