Nanalee Winegar Obituary

Nanalee Powell Winegar was born on Dec. 8, 1916, in Odessa, Mo. She passed on Dec. 26, 2012, in Cortez.

Nanalee married Walter W. Winegar in 1933. They moved to Colorado in 1936 along with Nanalee's parents, Ernest and Lollabelle Powell, and her sisters, Martha (now Martha Dyer of Cortez), Marian (now Marian West of Cortez), and Pat (now Pat Englehart of Durango).

Nanalee, or Nancy, as she was usually called, worked in Cortez at Style Center Clothing Store, Empire Electric and the gas company from 1948 to 1977. From 1980 to 2007 Nanalee lived in the Coolidge, Ariz. area. Since 2007 she has resided at the Madison House in Cortez.

Nancy had two children, Kay Bush who passed away in 2011, and James Winegar of Glen Rose, Texas. The descendents of Nanalee are her daughter Kay and Dick Smith's children, Rick and Leslie; Rick and Beverly Franka Smith's children, Jennifer and Amber; Jennifer and Justin Johnson's children, Jade and Jordan; Amber and Eric Jaworsky's children, Brooklyn, Chase and Jack; Leslie and Brian Bridge's child, Vanessa; Leslie and Charlie Guynn's child, Dylan; and Vanessa and Scott's child, Breanna. Also surviving Nancy are her son, James and Pat Youree Winegar's children, Tracy and Kris; Tracy and Fred Mitchell's children, Avalon and Ryan. Also included in Nanalee's family is Linda Smith, wife of Rick Smith.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Madison House, 120 S. Madison, Cortez.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Madison House Assisted Living would be appreciated.
