Nita was a wonderful Grandmother, we will never forget all of the fishing, gardening, cooking and card games we've played together. When we were little, she never arrived empty handed when coming to visit, which was often. The color stains on our hands from the Skittles and M&M's she would bring might as well have never faded. She never forgot any of our birthdays and she always had a birthday card for us. When her great grandkids came along, she never forgot their birthdays either and there was always a card for them as well. She never missed a holiday or a family dinner. She was always happily humming. Nita had a garden every year and she shared what she grew with family, friends, and neighbors. If any of us had a question about gardening, we called Grandma, she taught us more knowledge about gardening than we may ever be able to use. She was always making and gifting salsa, chili and cinnamon rolls to everyone. Nita was a woman with a lot of sass and a sharp sense of humor. She worked hard her whole life and was a self-sufficient woman. She loved and cared for people that she didn't have to and she expected nothing in return. Nita always left without saying goodbye and we never knew why she did that but now, after having to say goodbye to her, I think maybe saying goodbye is just too difficult. We're so blessed to have been a part of her life. She is greatly missed and her memory will live longer than the rest of us.

I'm sad to see that Nita has passed, but I'm happy for her because she is no longer in pain. I will miss seeing her as a neighbor. She was such a strong woman and she had so many stories about her life. I tried to get her to write them down, but she probably never did. I will miss her and her cats will miss her.
