Nona Linnens Obituary

Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Nona Carroll Linnens will be held at Noon on Monday, March 25 at the Cortez Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Empire Street Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery.

Visitation will take place at the L.D.S. Church on Monday beginning at 11 a.m.

Carroll was born the daughter of Merle Everett and Ruby Rae (Lewis) Leavell on April 15, 1939 in Cortez. She passed away at her home on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the age 73.

On Dec. 12, 1980 Carroll married Hollis Arlie Linnens in Las Vegas, Nev. Carroll loved shopping and made it a practice while shopping at WalMart to purchase her items in threes. She enjoyed crafts and listening to country music. Carroll loved time spent outdoors camping, fishing and hunting. She was quite proud that she had shot an elk.

Surviving Carroll are her beloved husband, Hollis "Sarg" Linnens of Cortez; her children, Tammy Edwards and husband, Bob of Chandler, Ariz., Robin Stewart and husband, Davy of Moab, Utah, and Rex Adams of Chandler, Ariz.; by nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; by her brother, Donnie Leavell and wife, Judith of Cortez; and by a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Carroll was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Shannon Herrera; and her brother, Richard Leavell.
