Orly Lucero Obituary

I met Orly through our work with local government. His dedication and passion for his community was unmatched. Add to that the great person he was, what a treasure! I am honored to have known Orly Lucero!

Orly was a great guy; always of good humor and a passion for Cortez and public service. My trips to the four corners were never complete without time spent with Orly, always time well

I remember his joy of life and so enjoyed my interactions with him when I was the Landfill Manager and I always, always, always, loved the light display and made it a point of driving past to enjoy. He will be missed by so many people that he touched.

My favorite memory of Orley, we were building a house in YellowJacket, Orley standing in the bar ditch and my 6´2" husband standing up on the road. They stood there and talked for about 20 minutes. I finally yelled at them to switch places, it was making my neck hurt. He will be missed by many. Rest in Peace young man.

I met Orly 20 years ago. What a loss to the community. He was a true public servant.

Orly played a major role in making the Corte Fire District what it is today. Moving to Cortez in 2009 as the new Asst Fire Chief, and then Fire Chief, Orly not only became a mentor but a good friend. I will never forget his friendship and dedication to the Fire District. Orly will be greatly missed by everyone.

Jim and I were so sad to see that Orly passed. He was an amazing man. This community has lost a wonderful citizen. I had the pleasure of being Felice's kindergarten teacher and met Orly and Carol then. We are so very sorry for your loss.

This wonderful man was such a huge part of our family. His favorite saying was Living the dream. After he got ill it was Living the dream to get well. He fought so hard to stay with us. Thank you for taking such good care of my Sister and Felice and all the rest of us. There are so many things I will miss you about but the most is your delicious Stuffed green peppers. Absolutely delicious.

We are so greatful that Orly is no longer suffering. He was such a fighter. Our hearts are broken for Carol and Felice, they fought right along with him. Our family tree will never be the same after loosing this branch. Thank God we have Carol and Felice

Carol and Felice, condolences for your loss! May the love of friends and family sustain you through your grief. To know Orley was to love and respect him. I am blessed by knowing this wonderful man and his thousand-watt smile.

Orly was everyone´s friend and serviced the city, schools and many organizations in our community. He will be missed and thought of often. Love and hugs to Carol and Feliise. You two were his greatest happiness.

Carol and family; I was so sorry to hear of Orly´s passing. I enjoyed working for him while he was on city council and as mayor. He really supported the City of Cortez and me as city manager. I have many fond memories of him supporting our major projects over my years with the city. My sympathy for all of you.

Thanks for being a good friend when I lived in Cortez from 2009 to 2013. You will be greatly missed by all.

Always smilin, always ready to help. You made me want to be a better man. I'll miss you buddy.

Carol and family, I´m so sorry to learn of Orly´s passing! Orly was always friendly, fun, outgoing and involved in our community!
Many of us will always remember that big genuine smile, quick wit along with a joke or two and the warmth from his heart, not to mention the very large and festive Christmas displays he´d put out every year showing the true nature of the love for children and their big wondrous eyes and smiles along with the adults too, in pure amusement and delight at all the lights and characters so carefully done up by him every year!
I am truly sorry for your loss and his families! Rest in peace Orly! Thank you for helping many of us enjoy your festive displays and placing a great value of the Christmas spirit in our hearts.
A family tradition of ours was to always drive my kiddos looking at all the Christmas lights, not knowing then who took the effort to share with others their Christmas spirit, Orly and Carols were surely one we never missed!

Orly was such a great guy!!! I will never forget when he was a part of the Parade of Lights, (with a few other 'rockers'), and lead the parade as a group as the band 'KISS'...IT WAS AWESOME!!!! And his decorations on the house always was a hit for the participants in the Parade of Lights!!! I and all of the people he touched will miss him tremendously!!!!

Carol and Felice, We are so sorry to hear about Orly, but know he is not in pain anymore. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. We always enjoyed his yard at Christmas time. He was the best senor around and will miss him!

Orly was beautiful inside and out. We were blessed by working with him and then knowing the family personally. Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends. May the Blessed Assurance of eternal life with Jesus our Lord comfort you now and always.

What a wild man and always fun. Orly's energy and smiling face will definitely be missed by many. Carol, so sorry for your loss. Anything I can do don't hesitate.

Will Rogers once said that "he never met aman that he didn'y like".
Well, Orly never met a person that didn't like him. At his birth, i think that his Smile was born, and the rest grew on! He always greeted you with his signature smile and a warm hand shake. I believe that God created him to show other people how to be a "man", and how to help make the world a better place to live.
I am so very proud to have known him, and I believe that he is now telling St. Peter an "adivinanza". and all of heaven is smiling. Rest in peace primo!
