Randy Mathews Obituary

Memorial services for lifelong area resident Randy Dale Mathews will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 30 at the Old Mancos High School Gymnasium.

Randy was born Oct. 12, 1969 in Miami, Ariz. the son of Marvin R. Mathews and Charleen Fay Randolph. He passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012 in La Plata County.

On April 1, 2009 Randy married the love of his life Melissa Renee Owens in Las Vegas, Nev. Randy had served on the Cortez Police Department, was a member of Mancos Volunteer Fire Department and coached football in Mancos. He enjoyed hunting, carpentry and horse races, but his family meant the world to him.

Surviving Randy are his beloved wife, Melissa Mathews of Mancos; his children, Hannah Mathews and Cutter Mathews both of Cortez, and Sierra Wilson and Zane Wilson both of Mancos; and his mother, Charleen Randolph of Cortez. Also surviving Randy are his siblings, Jody Randolph of Cortez, Darren Kramer and wife Peggy of Mancos, Kierra Fury and husband Danny of Mancos, Alan Mathews and wife Anna of Mancos, and Mike Mathews and wife Susan of Cortez; James and Shirley Jones of Mancos, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Mathews; his grandparents, Junior and Faye Randolph and Harmon and Lorene Mathews; and by his nephew, Colby Kramer.
