I am very saddened about Rick's passing. He has been a great friend to me since elementary school. I will never forget all the great times that we had together, especially all fun and mischief that we got into in high school. I was so looking forward to seeing Rick at our high school reunion this summer. I will miss his teasing and bright smile. I am so thankful that our paths crossed so many years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time.

Very, very sorry to hear this. Like several others, I was looking forward to seeing Rick again at the upcoming reunion. Perhaps we should all think about not waiting to talk to old friends.

I just remember Rick in about 1970. He had started skiing one year before I did. All our other friends, Randy Kirks, Russell Salters, Stuart Stroud, and about 10 others had all been skiing for years. I started and Rick sold me his "last years" gear. I struggled on Stoner Ski Mountain, learning slowly. Later that year I was on the top of Sunshine run and Rick was talking to me. There was new powder about 8 inches. rick finished what he was saying and turned and skied off. He just snaked through the powder like a cat. it was so graceful and powerful at the same time. I never forgot it. Then when we were about 18 Rick told me about falling all the way down the face of Sheep mountain. He was climbing with a couple of friends, I think Danny Cox and he looked off the face of the mountain down at Trout lake. He made a gesture like he was going to slide down the face on his boots and he slipped. He went all the way down, missing all the rocks and shot our across the glacier. He stood up and yelled to the others to follow him. I think it is about 200 feet vertical. I thought of that every time I drove by Sheep mountain commuting to and from Telluride. I might have failed to be there with him in person but Rick is always in my thoughts. I have not seen Rick in over 40 years. My fault, he was there and I was working in Telluride. It is so easy to put off till tomorrow. Well Rick I will miss knowing you are here on this earth but I will keep faith that you are still here in spirit. I will never forget you man.
