Roma Riffel Obituary
Roma was born December 14, 1923 in Mancos, Colorado to Daniel William and Ruby (Shilton) John. Roma passed away at her Mancos home on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the age of 94. She was surrounded by love with her family.
Roma was a registered nurse who maintained her nursing license until she was 84 years old. She was an excellent caregiver and took meticulous care of several of her family members over the years. Roma was a prolific reader, and a lifelong poet. Roma and her deceased husband Jake built the Millwood Junction restaurant in 1977. Roma was proud to be known as the dessert maker for her family's restaurant. Roma was a wonderful mother and Nana to her children and grandchildren. Roma loved her church, and she was loved by her community.
Roma is survived by four daughters, Dauna Beck and husband, Chris of Palm Desert, California, JoAnn Riffel, and partner, Dana Vander Veer of Mancos, Linda Riffel of Mancos, and Karen Noack and husband, Dave of Mancos; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. I just read this and I offer my condolences to JoAnn, Linda and the rest of the family. Such a sweet person, so friendly. Absolutely made the best Peanut butter/Chocolate pie I have ever tasted. Many fond memories of the Millwood Junction.
