Roy Koppenhafer Obituary

Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Roy Eugene Koppenhafer will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26 at Lifeway Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery.

Visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel.

Roy was born March 22, 1932, in Cortez, the son of William G. and Emma Ellen (Wayman) Koppenhafer. He passed away at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the age of 82.

Roy had a donut cart for several years. He was a member of Lifeway Baptist Church. Roy spent a lot of time in the mountains pushing cattle on his horse "Alka Seltzer." He also enjoyed walking, puzzling, and going to the Bar D Chuckwagon in Durango.

Surviving Roy are his sister, Eva Hooten and husband, Bill of Cortez; nephews, Ellis Hooten, Justin Hooten, Damon Hooten, Kevin Stockey, and Billy Stockey; niece, Kerri Ann Stockey; and seven great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Koppenhafer; brother, Billy Koppenhafer; and sister, Luella Stockey.
