Ruth Hammons Obituary

Devoted mother, grandmother, wife and friend to all who knew her.

Ruth J Hammons, 86, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, at Longview Regional Hospital in Longview Texas with her family by her side.

She was born March 7, 1937, in Houston Texas to Ralph Cronk and Idola Killion. She was married to Donald Eugene Hammons on April 29, 1973, and they raised six children, Kieth Claytor, Cynthia Claytor, Patricia Fitzpatrick, Brian Claytor and Donna and Chuck Hammons.

Jeanette lived in Colorado and throughout Texas during her life, and never failed to establish lifelong friends and acquaintances wherever she went. She is remembered by all as a hard worker and as a loving caring neighbor. She was a nurse for many years and then owned the Lafayette Street Sandwich in Jefferson Texas and worked with the school system in Mancos Colorado.

She is preceded in death by her parents, children, Cynthia Claytor, Brian Claytor, and Kieth Claytor.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia "Paddy" Fitzpatrick, her grandchildren Madison and Troy Claytor, Daniella Claytor and Paige Warrick.

Jeanette will be especially remembered for her strong love of her husband, and all of her children and grandchildren.
