Sandra Lauzon Obituary

Sandra (Sandy) Lauzon, 83, of Dolores, CO passed peacefully on January 9, 2026 at home with her family. Raised in Bellingham, Moshe was born April 30, 1942 to Claire and Michael Hrezcuch. In 1967, she chose to move to the west coast with her husband (Pierre) and her two children. She enjoyed living in Torrance, CA until 2003 when Pierre died suddenly and she moved to Dolores to be with her remaining family members.

Sandy earned a Master's Degree in Theology from Loyola Marymount University, CA and spent her career as a writer and editor at Benziger Press. Her dedication to faith, with optimism of inclusiveness and love of humanity led her to the Episcopal church, where she proclaimed the word of the Lord each Sunday, reading the scripture at Mass.

Sandy served her community of Dolores by being a member of the town board for 8 years, member of the Dolores Chamber of Commerce, and working as part owner of the Flying Pig, a consignment store once in Dolores.

Sandy was an excellent crocheter and gifted many an afghan to her family and friends but her true passion was dancing. Sandy loved her time at the "Let's Dance" studio in Cortez, teaching lessons, but mostly dancing. Her favorite style was "West Coast Swing" but she did not dance discriminate!

Surviving Sandy are her daughter Colette and her son-in-law Dan Heeney, as well as her companion Bill Daily.

Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Pierre Raoul Lauzon, and son, Michael Jude Lauzon.

A service will be celebrated at St. Barnabus of the Valley church, 110 W. North Street on February 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
