Stan Cropp Obituary

Stan Cropp, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed peacefully on March 2, 2022. He will be remembered for his warmth, compassion, and terrific sense of humor.

Stan was born to Lee and Lyla Cropp on September 15, 1952 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His family settled in Russell, Kansas after Lee was honorably discharged from the Army where he had volunteered to be a paratrooper. Stan's family grew to include three younger sisters - Leanne, Cindy, and Brenda. After graduating high school, Stan went to college where he met Cathi, his future wife of 48 years. They raised four amazing children (Rachel, Simon, Adam, and Sam) and became proud grandparents of three grandchildren (Ivan, Garrett, and Josie).

Stan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1980 and completed a 30+ year career as a Pharmacist where he passionately served communities in Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and Texas. Along the way, he developed many great relationships with coworkers and patients alike.

In his free time, Stan enjoyed fishing and hunting with his children and grandchildren. He was always, and probably still is, trolling for Tricky Alex, the one that got away. He loved playing basketball in high school, the Kansas Jayhawks, the Denver Broncos and Cardinal baseball. He was named after the legendary Stan Musial.

Stan often shared observations and wisdom gleaned from life experiences. Some examples include:

- "Can't never did anything"

- "Turn signals are a sign of weakness"

- "That's a lazy man's load"

It should also be noted that Stan was an amazing cook. One summer while Cathi was away at school, Stan ensured the children were well fed. He lovingly prepared gourmet meals which consisted of nutritious staples such as fried bologna and potatoes. No cost spared. Coca-Cola was his favorite beverage, but the children were not allowed to drink it. When he was not looking, they would sneak into the kitchen and drink straight from the 2-liter bottle because they were sure he would never notice. However, they knew he was onto them eating his ice cream when they found the chewed gum sitting strategically in the center of it.

All kidding aside (which Stan would certainly have appreciated), he touched generations of loved ones and many friends with his generosity, warmth, and love. Stan will be dearly missed and never forgotten. A memorial service in Oklahoma is being planned.

I was just thinking about some of the great people I have known and worked with over the years. Stan is at the top of my list. I know he will be greatly missed. He always had an encouraging word and a happy smile.

Cathi, it was a pleasure knowing both you and Stan. I definitely enjoyed his quick wit and that smile he always had. What really stands out about my memory if Stan from many years ago was his love for you. He loved talking about you and the kids. I know you are really missing him. My prayers are for comfort for you and all those that loved Stan.
