Tammy Gonzales Obituary

Tammy Lee Baty was born to Frank and Rebecca Baty on June 19th, 1974. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, but moved many times throughout her childhood before settling finally in Cortez, Colorado, where she would spend the majority of her life. During her late teens, she dropped out of school and began working at the Sonic Drive-In, where she met the love of her life and eventual husband, Franky "Pepsi" Gonzales.

She had her first child, Krissey Gonzales, in the fall of 1995, and soon after quit work to become a full-time mother. Her second daughter, Frankie Gonzales, came along just two years later in the fall of '97, followed by her final child Louis Gonzales in the winter of 2001. From the day Krissey was born, the rest of her life was devoted to her family. Any need or want her kids could have was quickly fulfilled, while still instilling her Godliness and humanitarian beliefs to their cores.

Tammy was infinitely kind and endlessly giving. She disliked few people, and loved everyone. Anyone she interacted with, from complete strangers to regular customers, was touched by the genuine care she had for them. She would have given the shirt off of her back if she saw a person in the cold, and she was absolutely never her first priority.

Anything her family needed, she gave it, be it time, love, or money. Though she occasionally faced fights with her relatives, she always apologized, forgave, and accepted an extended hand.

Tammy joined God on Saturday, February 24th, 2018, asleep in her home. She is survived by her husband, Pepsi Gonzales, her mother, Rebecca Baty, and her three children, Krissey Gonzales and Austin Marion, Frankie Gonzales, and Louis Gonzales. She is also survived by her five siblings: her sister and best friend Terry Donati and her family, her sister Sherry Smith and her family, her sister Rebecca Greene and her family, her brother Frank Baty and his family, and her brother Glen Baty and his family. She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Dean Baty, and her Gonzales dad, Frank Louis Gonzales.

Funeral mass for Tammy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2 at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Cortez. Burial will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Father Pat Valdez will officiate. A viewing will take place at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with a rosary at 6:00 p.m.
