Violet Gray Obituary

Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Violet Marie Gray will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23 at the Arriola Community Center. Interment will follow at Arriola Cemetery where Viola will be laid to rest by her beloved husband. Mr. Doug Carver will officiate. A dinner will follow the interment at the Arriola Community Center.

Violet was born in Cortez on May 9, 1945. She passed away at her home on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 at the age of 67.

Violet is survived by her children, Carl Gray and wife Carol of Cortez, Laura Wright and husband Colby of Cortez, Dixie Gray of Grand Junction, Colo., Rodney Gray and wife Corinna of Cortez, Ted Gray and wife Shauna of Grand Junction, Jess Gray and wife Charlotte of Cortez, Bonnie McDonald and husband Richard of Cortez, Matt Gray and wife Kassi of Durango, Ruthie Lancaster and husband Patrick of Cortez, Curtis Gray of Cortez, Abby Gray of Cortez, Kyle Gray of Cortez, and Ike Gray of Denver; 56 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers and two sisters, Norman Hackett of Cortez, Clayton Hackett of California, Richard Hackett and wife Patricia of Cortez, Eunice Wall of Cortez, Opal Smith of Missouri; as well as many family and friends.

Violet was preceded by her husband, Woodrow Dean Gray; her parents, Alice Fern (Niccum) Hackett and James Leroy Hackett; her brothers, Jim and Bernard Hackett; her sister, Elsie; and by two grandchildren, Kayla Rae Wright and Kyra Fern Wright.
