Warren Schafer Obituary

Warren Allen Schafer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the age of 85, in Cortez, Colorado with his wife, Mary by his side.

Warren was born on June 28, 1938 in Blanchard, Oklahoma, to Warren and Naomi Schafer. He was a loving husband and father who worked very hard for his family and volunteered in many capacities in his church and community. He primarily worked for himself as a contractor and was 'Mr. Fix-It' for over 40 Years but also worked for Slaven's True Value at various times. He participated in the praise and worship music at his church. Warren was involved in Common Ground, Gideon's International and community laity services. He also enjoyed gardening and doing various projects outside.

Warren is survived by his wife Mary, his five children; Rick Schafer (Mary Jayne) of Mesa, AZ; Rita Tripp of Cortez, CO; Rhonda Schafer of Cortez, CO; Rachelle Starkel (Gregg) of Westminster, CO; Ramona LeBlanc (Peter) of Broomfield, CO; his Grandchildren Autumn Sobol (Mark), children Jillian and Ryleigh of Mesa, AZ; Brandon Tripp (Easton) of Cortez, CO; Bryan Tripp (Ilaria) of Okinawa, Japan; Andrea Everett (Josh) of Charlotte, NC; Luke LeBlanc and Alyssa LeBlanc, Broomfield, CO; sisters Carolyn Gray, Cheryl Carmichael (Ken), Donna Miller (Gerald), Marcie Nash (Brian), brother-in-law Loren Rausher (Judy), brother-in-law John Gray; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Warren was preceded in death by his wife Rita Mozelle Schafer (of 61 years), parents Warren C. and Naomi Schafer, mother & father-in-law Hugh and Mary Lee Rausher, brother Doug Schafer, sister-in-law Moya Gray, and grandchildren Ryan Schafer and Amanda Starkel.

Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church in Cortez. CO on Saturday, September 9th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
