Memorial services for lifelong area resident William Axel "Bill" Olson Jr. will be held on Saturday, July 27, at the family residence 13751 Road 29, Dolores.

Bill was born Nov. 26, 1927, in Saguache, Colo., the son of William Axel Olson Sr. and Mary Ann (McClure) Olson. He passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at his home at the age of 85.

Bill married Ona Lee Calhoon on December 20, 1948. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this year. Bill graduated from Montezuma Cortez High School and served in the Air Force during the Korean War as a mechanic. He enjoyed farming, cows, fishing, camping and especially his family.

Surviving Bill are his wife, Ona Lee Olson of Dolores; his daughter, Cindy Olson and significant other, Cliff Malone, of Dolores; granddaughter Shawna Lively and husband Jeff of Dolores; great-grandchild Brendan William Lively of Dolores; sister, Mary Haney of Albuquerque, N.M.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Ann; and siblings, Manfred Olson, Duane (Swede) Olson, Ruthie Egley, and Norma Hindmarsh.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Montezuma.
