Steve Benson Obituary

Stephan "Steve" Martin Benson, 75, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, in Anderson, South Carolina. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Steve's journey was one of devotion-a pilgrimage marked by faithfulness to God, a love for the open road, and a heart attuned to the whisper of calling.

An honorable veteran, Steve served in the National Guard as a Military Police officer. He later carried forward a family legacy as the second-generation owner of Benson Electric, leading the business for over forty years. His labor was not only a trade but a quiet ministry, each encounter a chance to mirror the love of Christ. Steve moved among us as a messenger, entrusted with words that sometimes weighed heavily, yet he bore them with unwavering conviction and a quick, infectious humor that allowed him to connect and bond with everyone he met.

But to his family, Steve became a craftsman of memories and a weaver of wonder. He was an adventurer who always believed he could make it just a few more miles, even if he didn't quite make it to the Citgo station. He was a man of words who shaped poetry as offerings of love for his wife, Donna, and a storyteller who turned bedtime into something sacred for his children. Whether expressing his stubborn wit, insisting he didn't want "a little one like that guy got," or planning the next adventure, Steve lived with a spirit that was both grounded and reaching.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna Verna Benson, and his children: Stephanie (Richard) Beach, Shad (Ashley) Benson, Sirci (Joey) Roby, Sandy (Nate) Wingert, and Skeeter (Megan) Benson. He leaves a lasting legacy in his 17 grandchildren: Sarah, Hannah, Jacob, Samantha, Brendan, Kamryn, Madyson, Zoee, Harris, Cael, Sadie, Jessa, Skye, Isaac, Annabelle, Aurora, Arik, and Ace; and his great-grandchild, Carter.

He is reunited now with his parents, Burton Raymon Benson and Phyllis Jean Aberg.

Services: A graveside service will be held Monday, April 6th, at 2:00 PM at Roberts Cemetery in Anderson, South Carolina. Flowers may be sent to 304 Azalea Drive, Anderson, South Carolina.
