Ronald Edwin "Ron" Gerbig Madison, WI - Ronald Edwin Gerbig (61) 07/31/62, Watertown, Wisconsin to 2/22/24, Madison, Wisconsin.Ronald "Ron" Edwin Gerbig died on February 22 after a brief time in the hospital following a heart attack. He was a resident of Madison, living a homeless life on his own terms in his own little hideaway. Often he sat outside the downtown CVS gently interacting with passersby interested in conversation. He had many friends and an occasional relationship with the Friends of the State Street Family, sometimes relying on them during the very frigid weather and change of seasons. He was preceded in death by his brother Terry Lynn Gerbig and his sister Judith "Judy" Ann, nee Gerbig, Herzog and his parents, Millard Edwin and Rena, nee Schneiderwent, Gerbig. He is survived by his sisters Marilyn (Glenn) Borchardt of California, Sharon (Ricky) Reece of Texas, Marie (Glen "Rick") Siferd of Wisconsin, Bonnie Morton of Wisconsin, and Beth (Ralph) Davis of Iowa. He is further survived by his brother-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" Herzog, of Wisconsin, sister-in-law, Shirley (Kevin) Magnusson, of Oklahoma, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to Friends of the State Street Family, Habitat for Humanity, or personal choice. Arrangements are with First Wisconsin Cremation, Beloit, Wisconsin. No memorial service is planned.
