Clarence Gray Obituary


CLARENCE N. GRAY, 78, of Mammoth, passed away on January 25, 2026 after a short & sudden illness. Clarence was a retired coal miner from Valley Camp Coal Company. He is the last of his family to leave this earth for a better place. He was a jokester & loved making his rock candy to give out.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Marilyn, son Chad, granddaughter Miranda and his family- father, Clarence (Buck), mom, Freda brothers Bill (Mona) & Carmen his sisters Bernice (Bob)Herald, Inez (Roy)Martin, Becky (Popeye) Young.
He leaves behind daughter/caretaker Shelly & son-in-law Roger Page & daughter Trisha Bess. Granddaughters; Shannon Page & Destiny Parker, grandsons; Shawn Bess & Dylan Gray, and Nine great - grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by nieces Tammy & Jeannie.
A big Thank You to Justin Layne for being more than just a nurse to him during his 31 days stay in CPICU at CAMC Memorial.
Viewing/visitation & service will be on Thursday, January 29th, 2026, at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, 600 Old Fort St., Cedar Grove, WV 25039. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. with a short service with Robin Burdette starting at 5 p.m., there will be no graveside service.
Cooke Funeral Home Cedar Grove is in charge of arrangements.

So sorry for your loss. Clarence went to school with Bill and me. I talked to him when he came into the clinic. He liked to joke. Prayers for all of you.
