Michael "Mike" L. Eschenweck

Michael "Mike" L. Eschenweck, age 70, of Thayer, NE, died Friday, January 23, 2026, in York, NE. He was born on February 8, 1955, to Lawrence C. and Lula (Barnes) Eschenweck in Reed City, Michigan. He was united in marriage to Yvonne McCartney on March 20, 1982, in Tempe, Arizona. Following their divorce, he was united in marriage to Linda Streeb on September 28, 2002, in York.
Mike enjoyed watching football, reading, fishing, woodworking, collecting records, and camping. He was a devoted family man, a member of the York Elks Lodge, and served as Chairman of the Board in Thayer, Nebraska. He loved playing DJ at his families and friends' events whenever he could. After 331/2 years, Mike retired from Hamilton- Sundstrand as a machinist where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
He is survived by his wife Linda Eschenweck of Thayer; son Nathan (Angel) Eschenweck of Stromsburg, NE; daughter Kasey (Judd) Smith of Lincoln, NE; son Cody Eschenweck and girlfriend S.J Anderson of Waco, NE; step daughter Judy Streeb and special friend Keith Heffner of Bel Air, Maryland; grandchildren: Elizabeth Ewing, Josephine Ewing, Damion Ewing, Lyle Eschenweck, Jeffery Eschenweck, Micah Smith, Kennedy Smith, Jaelynn Bourke, Jaden Eschenweck, Lula Eschenweck, Josie Bourke, Jase Bourke and great grandchild Kristina Ewing. He is also survived by his brothers Don (Sandy) Eschenweck of Evart, Michigan; Dave (Georgie) Eschenweck of Chandler, Arizona; sisters Kathy (Mike) Afton of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Karen (John) Styf of Stevensville, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Marv and Eddie, and sisters: Sharon and Cindy.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Metz Chapel in York. It was Mike's wishes to be cremated there will be no viewing. However, a signing of his book will be from 1-8:00 pm Friday during which his family will greet friends from 6-7:30 p.m. that evening all at the mortuary in York.
