Charlie Rogers Obituary

Charlie (Chuck) Marion Rogers Jr. passed away gently on January 31, 2025, at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family. He was laid to rest at the Summit Ridge Cemetery on Saturday, February 8, 2025.



He was born December 28, 1939, in Clovis, New Mexico, the son of Charlie M. Rogers and Florine (Brooks) Rogers. He was a lifelong resident of this area, having moved to the Summit Ridge as a child, and was a graduate of Dolores High School and Fort Lewis College.



He loved hunting and was an avid fisherman, and for many years took yearly trips to Lake Powell where he co-owned a houseboat with a group of fishermen from around the country. He made numerous other fishing trips, including to the east coast as well as many other lakes in the four corner states. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather.



He worked for Nelson Construction for 40 years while helping his father operate a farm on Summit Ridge in the evenings and weekends. They also created and patented several inventions.



Surviving Chuck are his daughters Sandra (Sandi) Rogers of Mancos and Stephanie Rogers Johnson (Lee) of Seattle, WA; his grandson Alexander Johnson of Seattle, WA; and his siblings Cathy Shields of Hayward, CA and Daisy Collins of Cortez, CO; as well as many nieces and nephews.



Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ella Dee (Touchstone) Rogers; his son Ryan Lee; and his siblings Joan Forest, Janet Kittel, Elleanor Rogers, James Rogers, and Helen Pilcher.



He will be forever loved and always remembered.
