Douglas Ross Obituary

River guide and National Park Service back country ranger, Doug spent his early life in and around Mancos, Colorado. Predeceased by father Kenny, pioneering river boatman, and mother Mildred, local character and English teacher; brother Charles; and his friend Stan. Survived by brother Don, children Laurie and Jennifer, grandchild June and his last cat Squeak.

He loved the outdoors, its creatures and its vistas, and remained intellectually engaged throughout his life. Friends he leaves behind include artists, scientists, builders and teachers, among the many other world explorers and erudite disreputables with whom he swapped tales and shared adventures.

Memorial services TBA - a gathering is anticipated in Bluff, Utah by the San Juan River in late spring.
